The reference year indicates the starting year of the academic year (e.g. 2024 = academic year 2024/25).
County indicates the county where the school is located.

A general education school is basic school or upper secondary school (except for secondary schools for adults).

The table presents data according to the administrative division in force on 1 January of the reference year.
1995-2003 other languages of instruction comprised only Russian.

Data on general education schools by county are hereafter available in table HT122: GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS BY TYPE OF INSTITUTION AND COUNTY.
Data on students in general education by language of instruction are available in table HT140U: ENROLMENTS, DROPOUTS AND GRADE REPEATERS IN GENERAL EDUCATION BY SEX, EDUCATION LEVEL, FORM OF STUDY, LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION, MOTHER TONGUE AND COUNTY OF RESIDENCE.
